OmahaIX is a carrier neutral Internet eXchange Point located in 1623 Farnum Omaha, NE.
OmahaIX strives to keep internet traffic local to the greater Omaha area, eliminating the need to send traffic to Chicago or Kansas City when the final destination is your neighbors house. In addition, port charges are 20 times less than typical Internet transit port charges leading to a significant reduction in the cost of Internet.
OmahaIX offers three basic services:
- Shared VLAN Peering for multilateral or bilateral peering
- Private VLAN Peering for private bilateral peering
- Passive Lamda interconnect for massively large private and public peering
With low power costs and exceptional fiber connectivity Omaha offers a great low cost alternative to peering in Chicago.
The following port speeds are available 1G, 10G and 40G.
OmahaIX intends to seek OpenIX certification when the committee starts accepting Omaha area applications.
